Team Honda Europe on track
Two 6x6 trucks, two Toyota Land Cruiser's, two buggy's and fi ve bikes departed last week from Le Havre, France for South-America. The fully prepared bikes were loaded in Vorden, The Netherlands and the trucks were packed meticulously to serve as super-effi cient mobile workplaces during the Dakar rally. All of our fi ve riders can focus on there own races and navigation with the knowledge that there is an excellent team of mechanics after each stage. Team Honda Europe will depart on December 27th to join their material that will be ready for the Dakar 2011 in Buenos Aires.
Inspection in Le Havre, France
The journey has started for Team Honda Europe towards the next continent. Still in Europe in Le Havre, France we where in a really big and really cold hangar where we had to pick up the stamp booklet and stickers, Sentinel, Iritrack, GPS and Tripy that could be installed in order to make the bikes Dakar-ready. After the inspection, the bikes went into the harbour and were sealed. The main event of the year is getting close but it isn't just counting the days now. The team is alert, preparing, organizing and constantly busy fine-tuning the last details before january 1st 2011.
Quinn Cody wins Baja 1000
The Grand daddy of all off-road races: the 2010 Baja 1000, has been won by 'our' Quinn Cody and his team mate Kendall Norman. The Johnny Campbell Racing JCR/Honda team makes it 14 in a row with a total of 21 overall wins for American Honda. The Baja 1000 boasts over 300 entries from 19 countries with live crowds of a quarter of a million people. The course is 1061 miles of the harshest terrain on the planet, leading racers on a crisscross journey from coast to coast down the famed Baja Peninsula from Ensenada, Baja California, to La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Both racers gave 100% with only one fl at tire over the entire course resulting in a dominate lead and a great victory with a fi nish time of 19h 20m. "This win makes all of our work throughout the year worthwhile. I can't say enough about our JCR/Honda pits and chase crews they were awesome!" says Quinn. Team Honda Europe is determined to hold this winning mood. Currently, Quinn is training with the roadbook to further develop his navigation skills. During the Dakar one will always be dependent on his roadbook and riders are constantly navigating. Just two weeks untill Quinn should surprise everyone in the Dakar 2011!
