Before taking on the final stage of the Silk Way rally, the competitors of the event received the visit of a prestigious guest. Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Poutine indeed came to the Maykop bivouac where he was welcomed by race directors Semen Yakoubov and Frederic Lequien. He then stopped by the Kamaz team to have a word with Dakar legend Vladimir Chagin and the drivers of the Russian squad. The next stop was at Volkswagen where he discussed with title holder and 2010 Dakar winner Carlos Sainz. The Prime Minister had a long and very friendly conversation about the specifics of the Race Touareg with the Spanish champion.

"I'm very proud that our country welcomes such an important international rally that attracts the best brands and drivers", pointed out Mister Poutine on the podium in front of all the competitors of the race.
