Honda Riders Prepare For Second Half Of Dakar Rally
After a challenging journey from the start of the Dakar Rally, in which Bel-Ray Super B Honda’s top prospects Sam Sunderland and Quinn Cody were ruled out of the race with an electrical issue and a crash, Saturday’s stage seven of the rally marked the final stint before today’s rest day.
Juan Carlos Salvatierra enjoyed another strong day in which he finished second in class (non-elite) and 24th in the special to further himself up the order into 62nd position. All other Bel-Ray Super B non-elite riders also made it though the stage successfully. Today the riders were able to enjoy a rest day in Copiapo, which allows the team to give the CRF 450X machines extra attention ahead of the remaining seven days of the rally.
Tomorrow’s route is 722km through the Atacama Desert to Antofagasta. Current top Honda rider Tamarugal Honda Racing XC Rally Team’s Daniel Gouet starts the second half of the race in 14th position overall, with Honda Racing Argentina rider Javier Pizzolito in 22nd place.
