COPIAPO – After the medical visit of Doctor Radice from Clinica Las Condes, Francisco López decided to quit his participation in Dakar 2012.
After his fall this morning at kilometer eighty of the seventh stage, Copiapó – Copiapó, the rider finished the stage and was half an hour behind the stage winner.
Doctor Fernando Radice of Clinica Las Condes checked him and made his diagnosis: a sprain on his right knee. His advice was for him to retire.
“My Dakar finishes today,” said the Chilean rider. “I´m in pain and I am not able to put the leg on the ground, but I will be fine in two or three weeks. I would like to thank all people who have supported me, starting from Aprilia that gave me a truly competitive bike.”
