Sherco TVS rider Alain Duclos kept his team in the top five at the end of the third stage of the Dakar rally on Tuesday while CS Santosh recovered from Monday's issues.
The French rider started the day on fourth but fell back during the shortened stage from Termas de Rio Hondo to Jujuy.
Duclos dropped to 13th in the first way point of the stage before improving to finish ninth for stage three and fifth overall.
The stage was led by Joan Barreda but he was handed a speeding penalty which gave Kevin Benavides the stage win and Stefan Svitko, the overall lead.
Sherco TVS' Joan Pedrero, although maintained his overall top 10 slot but had a difficult run finishing 23rd in the third stage.
Florent Vayssade finished 28th overall and 33rd in the stage on the RTR 450 bike.
The lone Indian rider Santosh made up some ground after a poor Monday, finishing 61st in the third stage while 79th overall.
The Suzuki rider started the day on 97th and made up 18 places during the stage, especially at the first way point, where he was running 62nd.
