"Bailey Executes Flawlessly"

Bailey's performance in Stage 5 was flawless. For the day, Bailey managed to improve his 145th starting position, ending the day at 104th for Stage 5. His overall standing improved 7 positions from 156 to 149. An overnight effort from the SMG crew repaired Bailey's steering system, returning the buggy to its full operating condition.

From the bivouac in Tan Tan, Bailey reflects on the day, "I'm very pleased with our standings today. Everything was working for us. No delays to speak of. The car performed well and we made no mistakes. A repeat performance in Stage 6 and we'll be in great position. I don't like eating dust."

Due to the lengthy initial liaison, Stage 6 will begin at night, 1:40 am for the bikes and 3:19 am for the cars as they make their way to the Zouerat bivouac. The drivers will traverse a liaison of 336 kilometers leading to a 444 kilometer special. The special's terrain begins with a compacted fast surface followed by soft sands beginning halfway through the special. Zouerat is the first of three stops in the country of Mauritania where Bailey's Pens-for-Kids-to-Learn campaign will kick-off.
