News from Rally Raid UK .... Since we last spoke .....

Hello Everybody !!

We have now made it to Kayes in Mali, we are at the International Airport there (??) which consists of a runway and a fire station with a shower that you can use for 2 Euros ...

On the Rally front various things have happened, Francisco's bike has been found by one of the sweeper trucks and he and his dad are on there way back home. Mick Hughes engine destroyed itself which was not really in the plan. There seams to be a bit of a problem with 2005 KTM's we have had battery problems and carburettor issues and all sorts of other niggles, Patsy Quick is out because of bike issues and that was a 2005 KTM whilst the chap she sold her 2004 bike to is up there at 17th or so.

The Rauseo brothers continue to go 'dirt bike riding' every day and whilst they wanted new bikes I think they made the right choice with the 2002 and 2004 bikes. It's amazing but every time I see them they are both full of enthusiasm even after a hard days riding.

Paul Round's got his car going after his fuel problems and is now tagging along with the Assistance group -- massive amount of interest in his car and mostly from people who have Bowlers right now.

Paul Green is still in the race but spent ages completing the Atar to Atar stage -- he started off with water pump problems and got back really late.

Mick Extance had a camera fitted by the Dakar people, you don't get a choice they just insist, I don't think he was too keen -- they got some good pictures from the camera and then Mick took a tumble on some rock's -- He's O.K. but the camera and battery is now in the desert somewhere -- teach them to force a camera on him ...

Pedro -- well where do you start ... His results in stages continue to be really great and his overall position is very respectable. However, we were just completing the last stage of the assistance from Atar to Kiffa at 9PM, another 1055 Km's and Ian noticed Pedro by the side of the road. So it comes to pass that a donkey, the worlds most stupid animal, has wandered out in front of him, Pedro has tried to avoid the donkey but once he decided that impact was certain he did the right thing and got off the bike. Anyway Bike 1 Donkey 0 and very dead by the side of the road. Unfortunately this gave Ian heart failure and loads of work to do on the bike that evening in preparation for the marathon stage the next day. Not least of which was the cleaning since most of the inside of the Donkey was on the outside of the front end of Pedro's bike. Remains to be seen what position Pedro is in when he arrives here later today.

The Assistance people now get a day off in Keyes whilst the competitors catch us up, we are planning a game of cricket in the midst of all these French man. Then it's off to Tambacounda and then finally Dakar
