ALEN OUT, VILA CONTINUES A day after Miki Biasion, Markku Alen was forced to abandon the Dakar race as well: also on his track the rupture of the shock absorbers caused the break of the attachment of the truck's cabin.

"I am very sorry to leave the race so early," said the Finnish driver, "But the continuous shock absorbers problems made it impossible for us to continue".

There is only one Iveco Trakker now in the race, the one of Spanish Pep Vila who in today's stage, from Tan Tan to Zouerat, in Mauritania, 792 km of which 444 of special stage, finished 11th. In the general ranking Vila is now 9th with a 4h44'03" from Vladmir Tchaguine (Kamaz).

Tomorrow from Zouerat the participants will reach Atar: to cover 521 km, 499 of special stage.
