Ellen Lohr: "We're perfectly prepared for the Dakar"
Lisbon -- Tomorrow, Saturday, 31 st December 2005, represents the start of the Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz team's inaugural Dakar appearance. "We're perfectly prepared for the Dakar and delighted that the event will finally kick-off," says the team's rally driver, Ellen Lohr. "The day before yesterday, all the five Mercedes-Benz vehicles have passed the scrutineering without any problems whatsoever. In spite of knowing that our cars and trucks have been professionally prepared it turned out to be an exciting day, for us. After all, it's the first time that the full Mercedes-Benz service fleet is going to be used in anger.
Balbir Singh, the former physiotherapist of Michael Schumacher, is also feeling pleasant anticipation. Having left Formula One after ten years, the Indian now accompanies Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz during the desert trip. "Having spent just three days with Ellen Lohr and the team, in Lisbon, it feels as if I've known the squad for years," reveals Singh. "Now I'm massively looking forward to the new challenge."
