Navigation and rocks!

Today was a perfect day for Spanish rider Marc Coma, who won his second stage in a row.

After a cold 96 kilometer long liaison, which started at 05.45, the fourth special took off. It was a complicated and tough stage. Complicated because of the difficult navigation, tough because of the many rocks. Coma found it difficult to look at the roadbook and analyse the tracks at the same time. He drove alone the whole day without any poblems, and extended his lead with 13 minutes.

Second today came Esteve Isidre. Isidre thought he was in for an easy day, but as always in the Dakar things went different. While overtaking Chris Blais he made a navigation error, which lost him some time. Cyril Despres started 21st today, and overtook 15 riders to get nearer to the front. He had a little crash, but is happy to start third tomorrow, to get out of the dust.

The rally was plunged into mourning with the news of the tragic death of the South-African rider Elmer Symons.

Tomorrow a special of 325 kilometer, after which we will be heading for Mauretania.
