In the bikes, over the twisty 478 km special, victory went to David Fretigne on his little 450 2-wheel drive Yamaha, with Richard Sainct (Gauloises KTM) second (at 3'41) and Roma third (at 6'22). Cyril Despres (Gauloises KTM) was fourth (at 13'32) with Alfie Cox 9th (at 24'03).

Overall that means that Roma maintains his lead over Sainct (at 7'25) while Despres (at 45'39) moves up to third, just ahead of Cox (at 46'34).

Richard Sainct (Gauloises KTM France) 2nd at (3'41) 2nd overall (at 7'25)

"The piste was very twisty and we never really got the chance to open our bikes up -- which explains why Fretigne won. At one point I got on to the wrong piste but still managed to pull back a little time on Roma -- just not enough. The problem was that because of all the villages there were too many GPS points to make a difference with the navigation. There are still two long specials left, so the overall standings could still change, but the opportunity to pull back needs to present itself quickly."

Cyril Despres (Gauloises KTM France) 5th (at 13'32) 3rd overall (at 45'39)

"Apart from getting a few thorns in my hand, making it difficult to hold the handlebars, up until km 340 everything was going perfectly and I was just ahead of Fretigne. Then I lost concentration momentarily, made a stupid navigation mistake and got on to the wrong piste. If I start a little bit behind tomorrow that might help me, but I'm really disappointed with today's final result. I would have preferred to have ridden a faultless special and stayed fourth overall than to have done what I did today."

Alfie Cox (Gauloises KTM International) 9th (at 24'03) 4th overall (at 46'34)

"It was like a long world championship enduro special -- I spent the whole time sideways. At about km 80 I came across Marc Coma who had a big crash and I lost a little time stopping to help him -- he didn't know where he was, or who I was come to that! Then after refuelling I got lost coming out of a village and did between 15 to 20 km off the road
