Dakar Cars, Stage 13: Peterhansel wraps up win, Loeb fastest

Stephane Peterhansel clinched his 12th victory in the Dakar Rally by coasting through the final stage, which was won by Peugeot teammate Sebastien Loeb.

Peterhansel, whose win is to remain provisional until X-raid's appeal is decided, allowed himself to drop several minutes to nearest rival Nasser Al-Attiyah through the final stage - but still finished with more than half an hour to spare.

Meanwhile, Loeb was a minute off the fastest time at the first waypoint, but picked up the pace later on in the run to claim his fourth stage win in his debut Dakar.

Much of the stage was led by another former WRC star Mikko Hirvonen, who had started the day four minutes off third-placed Giniel de Villiers after having taken his maiden stage win on Friday.

And the Finn did manage to gain ground on de Villiers again - but the South African was fast enough to hold on to third overall, making it three different marques on the podium.

With Hirvonen finishing a debut fourth, Leeroy Poulter completed the rally's top-five, posting his career-best finish.
