Happy Return for Kevin Lacombe and Pascal Picotte at the Circuit du Mont-Tremblant
Circuit du Mont-Tremblant, June 2, 2006. Timed practise sessions were held today for the second round of the 2006 Parts Canada Superbike Championship.
Both " Team Toyota-Yamaha Racing " riders were on track, preparing for the Sunday races in Pro 600 Sportbike and Superbike, after excellent results at the first round in Shannonville (ON) two week ago.
Kevin Lacombe was satisfied with his times, fourth in Pro 600 and fifth in Superbike. "I am comfortable sliding both ends of the machines, as they are nice and predictable. I was riding the Superbike a little harder, and am willing to ride both of them a lot harder in qualifying and the race. I will have to do that to win, that's for sure!"
Pascal Picotte had a more strategic day, with a seventh in Pro 600 and sixth in Superbike. "We did not practice yesterday (Thursday) so I am two sessions behind the other in development. We are only two seconds behind the fastest time while riding conservatively; and I am very happy with that result. We still have Saturday and Sunday morning to get up to speed. We will be there for the race!"
The top riders in Pro 600 Sportbike were Tom Kipp (Chardon (OH), Kawasaki), Clint McBain (Cochrane (AB), Suzuki) and Andrew Nelson (Kars (ON), Yamaha). The top riders in Superbike were Jordan Szoke (Kawasaki), Francis Martin (Suzuki) and Tom Kipp (Kawasaki).
Practice will continue on Saturday morning, with qualifying for both classes Saturday afternoon, and the races, at 12.40 for the Pro 600 Sportbike class, and 3pm for the Superbike class.
