Podium for Kevin Lacombe in Superbike highlight of a strong day at the Circuit du Mont-Tremblant

Circuit du Mont-Tremblant, June 4, 2006. Racing in clear dry conditions for the first time all weekend, both Team Toyota Yamaha Racing riders gathered strong championship points going into the Western Canada swing of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship.

With a sixth place finish in Pro 600 Sportbike and a great third place in Superbike, Kevin Lacombe is satisfied with his weekend. "I had two near crashes in the 600 race, and settled for 6th rather than the ground. In Superbike I got a very good start and stayed in front until the 6th lap when my tires started to slide more than I liked. I then had to slow down about 1 second a lap and protect my third place. Podium and strong points in the first two rounds are satisfying, but I still want to get back on the top step of the podium. We'll see to that at the next round in Calgary."

Pascal Picotte had a 4th place in Pro 600 Sportbike, and a 5th in Superbike after a tough day of riding despite serious injuries he sustained in practice in early May. "We worked all weekend to make the bikes smooth to ride, and it turned out to be the right thing to do. I was very tired at the end of both races, but we got the points we need to go into the next round, where I will be in better physical shape than for the first two rounds"

The top three in the Pro 600 Sporbike race were Jordan Szoke (Kawasaki), Clint McBain (Suzuki) and Tom Kipp (Kawasaki). In Superbike, Jordan Szoke (Kawasaki) won, followed by Francis Martin (Suzuki) and Kevin Lacombe (Team Toyota Yamaha Racing).

The next round of the series will be held at Race City Calgary, from June 30 to July 2.
