MOORESVILLE, N.C., (November 12, 2001) - They say being in the right place at the right time makes all the difference. Just ask Regan Smith. The 18-year-old rising star can be seen next week on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Speedway Children's Charities' float presented by VISA.

The appearance in the parade did not start out as a planned event, but Smith soon found himself whisked away on Speedway Motorsports, Inc.'s corporate jet to Nashville, Tenn. where he taped the appearance at the Opryland Hotel.

"This all came about during a press conference back in October at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte," Smith said. "I was there for the announcement about the Diamond Cut Jeans endorsement of Team DC. I met General Sadler of Speedway Children's Charities and he mentioned that they were taping a segment for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Nashville and asked if I wanted to participate. It took me about a second to reply, 'yes'."

"There were several NASCAR Winston Cup drivers that were scheduled to fly to Nashville to tape the segment, but due to scheduling conflicts, they were unable to make it," Smith added. "I feel very honored to represent the sport of auto racing in the parade."

Catch Smith on the Speedway Children's Charities' float presented by VISA on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade next Thursday, Nov. 22 between 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon EST on NBC.

This week Smith will head to Atlanta, Ga. for a showcar and personal appearance on behalf of Diamond Cut Jeans. Smith's No. 28 Lucas Oil/Diamond Cut Jeans Chevrolet Monte Carlo will be on display this Thursday and Friday, from 4-8:00 p.m. EST at Horsetown, a specialty-clothing store located in Locust Grove, Ga. Smith will join ARCA and NASCAR Busch Series driver Kerry Earnhardt at Horsetown this Friday, from 6-8:00 p.m. EST to meet fans and sign autographs. Horsetown is located at 4583 Bill Gardner Parkway, Locust Grove, Ga.
