ITEMS FLOWING IN FOR USAC AUCTION BENEFITTING HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF

INDIANAPOLIS -- Items continue to flow in to the USAC office as officials prepare for the Sept. 24 silent auction at Eldora Speedway, which is to assist relief efforts following the destruction on the Gulf Coast caused by Hurricane Katrina two weeks ago.

More than 20 companies or individuals have made donations to the auction, which will start during the afternoon and end at 6 p.m., just prior to the 26th annual "4-Crown Nationals" feature races. Included during the evening are the Weld Racing Silver Crown Series, the Valvoline National Sprint and the National Midget Car Series.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated for hurricane relief, with moneys to be split between the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army.

Additional items donated to the auction include:

- Two carburetors and high performance hoses from Holley Performance,

- A Kirkey driver's seat with upholstery from Beast Enterprises,

- An autographed 1:18 scale Fan Club Tony Stewart diecast from Tony Stewart Racing,

- A pair of Oakley Sunglasses (valued at $200) from Kokomo (Ind.) Honda, and

- Two framed prints -- an 11x14 of Billy Wease (valued at $149) and a 16x20 of Josh Wise (valued at $299) -- from DeFabis Photography.

Those interested in donating items to the auction may contact Brenda Darland at the USAC office at (317) 247-5151 or bdarland@usacracing.com. Donations will be accepted up until the start of the auction.
