Archdale, N.C. (December 3, 2007) -- The Bobby Labonte Foundation received a welcome surprise Saturday, November 17 prior to the start of the NASCAR Busch Series finale at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. Bobby Labonte accepted a $10,000 donation to the Foundation on behalf of Dollar General Corporation. Labonte accepted the check from-Sherri Porter, Motorsports Coordinator -- Dollar General Corp.; Jim Thorpe, Sr. Vice-President, Merchandising -- Dollar General Corp; and Monty Bailey, Motorsports Manager -- Dollar General Corp.
"Dollar General is very proud of our association with Bobby Labonte," said Bailey in making the donation. " His talent and competitiveness combined with such a humble demeanor has been key to our racing program. He is a great friend. It is with much gratitude that we offer a gift to the Bobby Labonte Foundation."
Labonte was truly grateful after receiving the check.
"It's awesome for the Foundation," said Labonte. "I didn't know anything about it, but I'm not surprised either. Everyone at Dollar General, they are great people. This just proves again what a first-class corporation they are. I can't thank them enough for their support this past season. They were great partners to work with and I was humbled by this donation. This is only going to help the Foundation grow."
