KASEY KAHNE AND HERMIE SADLER JOIN FANS IN PAINTBALL BATTLE FOR CHARITY
Kahne Returns to Richmond International Raceway for the NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend April 30-May 1
RICHMOND (3/31/10) -- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kasey Kahne swapped his driver's suit and helmet yesterday for a custom-made blue camouflage jersey, protective face mask and a high-tech paintball gun and joined SPEED TV personality Hermie Sadler, Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz and fans in a paintball battle for charity.
Richmond International Raceway and Splat Brothers Paintball in Prince George, Virginia hosted the event, which featured two teams consisting of fans and paintballers led by Kahne and Sadler. Fans purchased the opportunity to play alongside Kahne and Sadler with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Kasey Kahne Foundation.
Both Kahne and Sadler will return to Richmond in just a few weeks, when Richmond International Raceway hosts its Spring NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend, featuring the Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday night, May 1.
"I always enjoy coming back to Richmond," said Kahne, who earned his first Sprint Cup Series win at Richmond International Raceway in 2005. "Richmond at night, it's always a great race. Everyone goes for it. It's bumps and bangs. It's a pretty interesting and exciting weekend at Richmond."
The Crown Royal Presents The Heath Calhoun 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday night, May 1, at Richmond International Raceway is always one of the most anticipated and exciting stops on the Sprint Cup Series schedule. Kahne, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and rest of the stars of NASCAR's top series will battle defending race winner Kyle Busch in a Saturday night short-track showdown "under the lights." Tickets are also available for the Friday, April 30, BUBBA burger 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race "under the lights." Friday's ticket also includes Wawa Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series and NBC 12 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series. Friday's tickets are $40 (reserved) and $30 (general admission). Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult on Friday only.
