NC STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM MOTORSPORTS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR WORKFORCE DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

CHARLOTTE, N.C (July 30, 2008) - The Inaugural "Driver Fore a Dream" charity celebrity Golf Classic will be held at the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa on Thursday, August 21. Proceeds from the event will benefit the North Carolina Motorsports Association's (NCMA) IE2 workforce diversity scholarship program, which provides funds to educational institutions and programs in North Carolina that have motorsports-based curricula.

One college or educational institution will represent each hole on the golf course. Sponsorship for each hole is $1,000, and 100 percent of that sponsorship will be donated to its respective college for scholarships. Additional money will be raised through event sponsorships, a silent auction featuring autographed items from nearly all the big names in motorsports, foursomes and other revenue-generating means.

Three generations of Jarretts, 1989 Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace, reigning Truck Series champion Todd Bodine, Jeff Gordon's crew chief Steve Letarte, former crew chief for Davey Allison and FOX and SPEED broadcaster Larry McReynolds and renowned motorsports artist Sam Bass represent the diverse array of motorsports talent that will play as celebrities in the tournament. Primary supporters of the event include Sprint and Lowe's Home Improvement.

The event is being organized by Performance PR Plus and its sister company, The Charlotte Destination Group - the member organizations that also work with the NCMA to organize its annual awards banquet.

"The idea was to find a way to raise more money and provide scholarships to include young people from all backgrounds aspiring toward a motorsports career," said Kymberly Brantigan, president of Performance PR Plus. "With Andy Papathanassiou at the helm of the organization, the NCMA is doing great things in regards to developing a diverse workforce through our state's college system and beyond to ensure the health of North Carolina's $5.9 billion motorsports industry.

"We are actively involved in the organization, and with the collaboration of both our businesses as motorsports marketing, public relations and event management companies, we are happy to organize an event that we hope will raise in one day what the program generated last year."

The event is being held on a Thursday in conjunction with famous night races at Bristol Motor Speedway. In addition to the "Drive Fore a Dream" Golf Classic, The Grove Park Inn is offering packages that include room nights, race tickets to the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series events and transportation to and from Bristol Motor Speedway the events on Friday and Saturday. If interested in participating in the tournament, foursomes and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
