RACING-THEMED EVENT OFFERS CHANCE TO WALK THE MILE FOR A GREAT CAUSE

West Allis, Wis. (October 13, 2008) -- This Saturday, October 18, race fans and the local community will get the rare opportunity to make laps on foot around the historic Milwaukee Mile race track in the annual STEP Out Walk to Fight Diabetes.

This is the second straight year that the largest American Diabetes Association fund raising event in Milwaukee will take place at America's Legendary Oval. All proceeds go to support diabetes research and education, including the one-in-ten people in Wisconsin affected by the disease.

The event will take on a racing theme, with NASCAR race cars, classic street cars and more on display. There will also be live music and a family fun area.

Prizes to be awarded to those who obtain certain pledge levels include autographed NASCAR items from Richard Childress Racing.

There is no cost to register and the event is open to the public.

Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., with the green flag waving at 10:00 a.m. on the STEP OUT Walk. Food and refreshments will be available once participants reach the checkered flag.

Advance registration for the Saturday, October 18th Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes is available online at www.diabetes.org/stepout or by calling 1-888-DIABETES. Event morning registration will also be available at The Milwaukee Mile, located on the Wisconsin State Fair grounds in West Allis.
