MIS to host first Cheerios® "Good for your Heart" walk

Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, to lead walkers

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 5, 2009) -- Michigan International Speedway is teaming up with Cheerios® as the brand introduces a "Good for your Heart" walk for fans at this year's LifeLock 400. The walk, which will be held on Sunday, June 14, promotes exercise, healthy living and keeping one's heart health on track with the help of Cheerios.

Race fans that have purchased a pre-race pit pass or any hospitality pass are invited to walk one lap around the two-mile Michigan International Speedway with Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, whose No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Clint Bowyer sports a Cheerios sponsorship.

Childress, who routinely starts his day with a bowl of Cheerios, will kick off the event from Turn 1 at the end of Pit Road at 9 a.m. and lead walkers around the racetrack.

"Heart health is something that is very important to me. I have two grandsons that are just beginning their racing careers, and I want to be able to watch them be successful for many years to come," said Childress. "Getting involved with Cheerios on this program to bring more attention to heart health and taking part in the track walk is something that I look forward to. It's a great way to jump start your health."

The first 3,300 participants will receive a commemorative yellow Cheerios T-shirt to wear during the walk.

Michigan International Speedway will provide tram transportation to walkers who have difficulty finishing the walk. Water stations will also be available along the route.

All participants must have an MIS pit pass.

Fans interested in participating in the walk that do not have a pre-race pit pass may still purchase one by calling the ticket hotline at 800-354-1010 or by visiting MISpeedway.com.

Pit passes may also be purchased on the event weekend at any ticket office location.

Pre-race pit access is included with the purchase of a hospitality pass for the Champions Club, Acceleration or the Trackside Club.

Tickets are on sale by calling 800-354-1010 or logging onto MISpeedway.com. Michigan International Speedway -- It's your speed!
