Atlanta, Ga. (Aug. 9) - NAPA AUTO PARTS will support NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Michael Waltrip's OPERATION MARTHON fundraising efforts benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp by donating $15,000 for every top-5 finish, $10,000 for every top- 10 finish and $5,000 for every top - 15 finish by the NAPA No.15 NEXTEL Cup team beginning August 15 at Watkins Glen International for the final 15 races.

The NAPA family has a long history as a primary sponsor in the NASCAR industry and has been known for embracing the sport from all aspects. Today, the 79-year old company announced it will also support one of the sport's proudest charities through a monetary pledge based on Waltrip's finishes.

"The Victory Junction Gang Camp for chronically ill children is a terrific program and we want to help Michael in his marathon of giving and his goal of raising $1 million." said NAPA President Bob Susor.

NAPA could be making quite a pledge as Waltrip has 12 top-15 finishes already this season.

"We are extremely proud of the way the NAPA team has persevered through a rough beginning of the season. We have over 6,000 NAPA AUTO PARTS stores and 12,500 NAPA AutoCare and AutoCare Collision centers across the country, which are reminded every weekend by the drive and dedication of the No. 15 NEXTEL Cup team to do what it takes to meet goals."

Though seldom at a loss for words, Michael Waltrip was taken back by the generous support of his primary NEXTEL CUP sponsor.

"NAPA uses our sport in so many positive ways with their marketing efforts," Waltrip stated. "In this case, they have stepped out to contribute to an amazing cause. NAPA is going to be a huge part in raising this money and bringing joy to children's lives. It makes me happy to know I have the best sponsor in the sport."

Waltrip announced July 3, 2004 he would raise $1 million dollars through OPEARTION MARATHON that would directly benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp. To learn more about how you can get involved with OPERATION MARATHON go to www.michaelwaltrip.com or call 1-866-WALTRIP.
