Team 48 Driver Jimmie Johnson and Lowe's Racing for Relief Raises Thousands for Red Cross Relief

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2008) --Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson's efforts on the track this weekend raised $19,200 to benefit the American Red Cross as part of Lowe's Racing for Relief program. The $19,200 represents Lowe's pledge of $48 per lap completed. Johnson finished fifth and completed 400 laps during Sunday's Camping World RV 400 at Dover International Speedway. Funds raised will help to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of Hurricane Ike and other 2008 hurricanes.

Lowe's first introduced Racing for Relief in April 2000. To date, the program has helped disaster relief efforts for hurricanes, tornados and floods by raising more than $275,000. The most recent Racing for Relief efforts in July 2008 raised more than $25,000 to help the American Red Cross with Midwest flood relief efforts.

In addition to Racing for Relief, Lowe's has donated $1 million to the Red Cross for its 2008 hurricane relief efforts. Lowe's currently has more than 1,575 stores serving as official cash donation sites for the Red Cross. Lowe's will match in-store customer donations up to a total of $250,000.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the American Red Cross may visit participating Lowe's stores, donate online at www.redcross.org, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
