Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation Recognizes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September 1, 2010 (Charlotte, NC)-A four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will be taking his daughter to work with him this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Ella, the three-year old daughter of Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosch, will be helping her father and the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation raise awareness during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month which begins September 1. The Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation, which raises money to support pediatric cancer research, will also launch a month-long campaign that encourages race fans to support the fight against childhood cancer.

"Every year over 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer," said Gordon. "Although great strides in treatments have been made, we still have a long way to go and we won't stop until every child diagnosed hopefully has access to a cure. Ella, Ingrid and I are asking fans to get involved and make a difference in the lives of these kids that need our help."

Ella will not only be cheering on her dad, but she will be cheering for her car to be in Victory Lane, as well. "My Papa's Car", the paint scheme for Gordon's No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet in Atlanta, was designed by Ella and NASCAR artist Sam Bass. The colorful car features Gordon's daughter's original artwork and handprints, as well as the new logo of the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation.

"I am very proud to run 'My Papa's Car' this weekend, not only because Ella designed it but because it will help to bring awareness and support for children with cancer," said Gordon.
