Dale Jarrett Foundation announces 2002 Charity Golf classic.
NEWTON, NC (May 21, 2002) --The Dale Jarrett Foundation Charity Golf Classic, presented by UPS and Coca-Cola, will be held Tuesday, June 11, at the Rock Barn Golf and Country Club in Conover, NC.
The tournament will feature two Shotgun Starts, with the first round beginning at 8:00am, followed by an afternoon round at 2:00pm. Outback Steakhouse will be providing lunch for all participants beginning at noon and lasting until 2:30pm.
There will be a silent auction between the morning and afternoon rounds featuring autographed NASCAR memorabilia from Winston Cup stars Dale Jarrett, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon and many other top drivers. The auction, open to the public, will also offer the opportunity to bid on sports related items from other top athletes including Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, Tiger Woods and Chipper Jones. Several popular Golf Getaway Packages will also be up for bid, along with a private golf outing with tournament host, Dale Jarrett.
Auctions items will be on display for silent bids beginning at 7:00am the day of the tournament. All final bids must be in by 1:45pm. Dale, Ned, Jason and Glenn Jarrett will be joined by other celebrity players including popular recording artist Edwin McCain and Michael McSwain, crew chief of the No. 28 Robert Yates Racing Ford Taurus driven by Ricky Rudd. Other surprise celebrity guests are expected to be on hand for the event.
Players purchasing Mulligans will have the opportunity to participate in a putting contest with $10,000.00 going to the winner. Dale Jarrett Ford will provide a 2002 Ford Explorer and one of the new Think golf carts as prizes for any player lucky enough to score a hole-in-one on the required holes. Ford Credit, Catawba Valley Medical Center, Building Systems, Inc. and Motorcraft Quality Parts are also providing support for the tournament.
All proceeds from the tournament and auction will go to the newly formed Dale Jarrett Foundation, a non-profit organization, to benefit the Lutheran Counseling Center in Hickory, the Boys and Girls Club of Hickory and the Victory Junction Gang Camp being built in Randleman, NC by Kyle and Pattie Petty in memory of their son, Adam.
