LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas racing fans will get an opportunity to show their support for injured Indy Racing League driver Davey Hamilton during the July Blastoff event at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 3.

Hamilton, a part-time Las Vegas resident and former LVMS employee, had both feet severely injured during a crash on June 8 during the Casino Magic 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. He was driving a car owned by Henderson’s Sam Schmidt.

Several of the top stars in the Late Model Division will walk through the stands to take up a collection for Hamilton and his family. All proceeds will go to help Hamilton defer the medical costs that are building up as a result of his injuries.

"Davey Hamilton has been a great friend of the speedway and a great ambassador for motorsports in the Las Vegas area," said Chris Powell, LVMS executive vice president and general manager." It's heartbreaking to see what Davey and his family have endured as a result of this accident. We want to do our part to help in his recovery."

Race fans wanting to make further contributions, send gifts or get-well greetings to Hamilton can do so by sending mail to:
