Castroneves Raises $25,000 for South Florida Charities

This past weekend Marlboro Team Penske driver Helio Castroneves was in Delray Beach, FL to participate in the Chris Evert/Bank of America Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic. The two-day event brought together some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment including former President George H.W. Bush, Matthew Perry, Chevy Chase, Lindsay Davenport and Gavin Rossdale as they raised $1.2 million to benefit South Florida charities.

The weekend's matches paired each celebrity participant with some of the best professional tennis players on the tour. On Saturday, two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, paired with tennis star Lisa Raymond, defeated the team of Chris Evert and Chevy Chase 6-4.

In addition to the action on the court, the event featured a concert by Sheena Easton on Saturday night at a Black-Tie Gala at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, FL. The evening also played host to a silent and live auction that raised more than $300,000. Two of the items up for bidding were a pair of pace car rides with Helio Castroneves and four passes to the Toyota Motorsports suite at the 2005 Indy Racing League IndyCar® Series season-opening Toyota Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway that sold for a combined $25,000.
