Charity Event Gives Fans A Chance to Dine On Fine Cuisine From CART's Top Chefs

July 25, 2001- Indianapolis, Indiana - The sixth annual CARA Charities Taste of CART, presented by Tones Spices - the only opportunity race fans and members of the motorsports community have each season to experience the fine cuisine and first-class atmosphere found in the hospitality motorcoaches that travel the CART tour - will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, during the Miller Lite 200 race weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

One of the most popular events of the FedEx Championship Series season, Taste of CART continues the year-long 20th anniversary celebration of CARA Charities, which has donated more than $3.25 million to charity since its inception in 1981.

Taste of CART is a progressive dinner that allows guests to visit several of the unique motorcoaches in the paddock area while dining on delicacies prepared by world class chefs and hospitality professionals. Each hospitality unit is typically decorated in a theme fitting with the offered cuisine that features a variety of international and American specialties.

This year's participating hospitality teams include Marlboro Team Penske, Team Rahal, Honda Racing, Arciero/Blair Racing and FedEx while Mo Nunn Racing, Newman-Haas Racing, Target/Chip Ganassi Racing, Team KOOL Green and Team Motorola will collaborate for dessert. These groups will also select a charity to receive 25% of the proceeds raised from the event.

Taste of CART tickets are available for a donation of $50. The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, and Taste of CART ticket holders who do not have Miller Lite 200 race tickets or credentials will be permitted on the Mid-Ohio grounds beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets may be purchased through the CARA Charities office at (317) 299-2277. Orders may also be placed via email at carachar@aol.com. Please indicate in the subject "Taste of CART Ticket Order" for all email purchases.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, CARA Charities was founded in 1981 to serve the community through charitable work and promote the friendship of all those involved in the motorsports family. Over $3.25 million dollars has been distributed to numerous racing and community organizations, including the nationally recognized and award-winning "Buckle Up Baby" program that is a partnership between CARA Charities and the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust. In addition to the CARA Shirley Bettenhausen Children's Fund, other recipient charities include CART Ministries, San Bernardino Children's Fund, CARA Benevolent Fund, Inc., Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Foote Memorial Hospital, International Vehicular Injury Research Center, California Highway Patrol "Kids" Program, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Championship Drivers Association Benevolent Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer and Valley View Medical Center.
