MARATHON EFFORT REWARDED WITH £100,000
It was revealed today that the efforts of Darren Turner and his fellow BRDC marathon runners have raised an astounding £100,000 for CLIC Sargent, the charity that cares for children and young people with cancer.
The group of British Racing Driver's Club members all completed the Virgin London Marathon in April and worked hard to raise money for CLIC Sargent before, during and after the event. They had raised £80,000 by the time of the race and this has now reached the £100,000 mark, which is double the original target.
Now that the blisters have healed the runners were all delighted to collect the cheque that they will soon hand over to the charity.
"It certainly makes all the effort worthwhile when you see a cheque for that amount of money," said Darren. "It's a good feeling to be able raise such a substantial sum for a much needed charity."
