TWO FAN EVENTS TO BE HELD AT CHAMP CAR GRAND PRIX OF ROAD AMERICA TO AID CRISTIANO DA MATTA RECOVERY

INDIANAPOLIS (September 14, 2006) -- Champ Car fans from around the world have sent their get-well wishes and support to the injured Cristiano da Matta, but at the upcoming Champ Car Grand Prix of Road America, fans will have two opportunities to show their support in a different way.

CARA Charities is holding a Champ Car Tailgate Party along with a silent auction of Champ Car memorabilia on Friday evening September 22, with all proceeds from the silent auction going to support Cristiano's recovery from head injuries suffered during a mid-season test session. Tickets for the Friday event, which runs from 6:00 -- 8:30 p.m., are available for $50 and can be purchased via phone at 317-299-2277 or by visiting www.caracharities.org. Silent auction items available include a Newman/Haas Racing team shirt signed by Sebastien Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira as well as the gloves and shoes worn by Justin Wilson in his Edmonton victory earlier this season.

The next evening, RuSPORT and CARA Charities will conduct the CARA Cruise for Cristiano, where the public can ride their bicycles alongside the stars of the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, touring the 4.048-mile Road America layout. Fans attending the race are encouraged to bring their personal bicycles to join Champ Car and Atlantic series stars for the ride.

Long-time CARA Charities and Champ Car supporter Bridgestone is donating unique signed racing memorabilia to Friday's auction as well as a brand-new Bridgestone Transit bicycle. The Model 270A Transit features a black composite frame, mono sprung rear wheel and is driveshaft driven with front disc brake. The bicycle, which folds to 37"X 26"X 13" is not normally available in the USA. In addition, Bridgestone is donating a colossal weekend Champ Car race package for auction on Ebay. The weekend includes four three-day admission and paddock passes to the Champ Car Grand Prix of Road America, four tickets to the CARA Champ Car Tailgate Party, four Fast Lap Pace Car rides, four passes to the Bridgestone hospitality compound on Sunday as well as Bridgestone race wear.

"As CARA Charities celebrates its 25th anniversary we are proud to continue our mission to serve the auto racing community through charitable work and to promote the friendship of all in the motor sports family," said Mary Lou Bogner, Executive Director, CARA Charities. "These two events will raise money to help Cristiano with his recovery efforts and will be lots of fun for the fans. The entire Champ Car community has come together to make this possible."

Passes to Saturday's bicycle event are available for a $20 donation. The track will open to the riders at 6:15 p.m. and will remain open until 7:15. The local chapter of the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation will have a limited number of bicycles on-hand to rent as well. Fans can sign up for the CARA Cruise for Cristiano and buy tickets for Friday's Tailgate Party at the CARA Charities tent in the paddock of Road America.

"RuSPORT would like to thank CARA Charities for their support of Cristiano da Matta and his family," said Jeremy Dale, president of RuSPORT. "We believe these events during the race weekend at Road America will provide significant assistance to Cristiano and his family as they help Cristiano through his recovery process, and we're very pleased that we can be a part of it, and we are also very pleased that race fans and the racing community can be a part of it."
