SPEEDWAY, Ind. (Nov. 23, 2003) - Despite the cancellation of the CARA Charities' 'Runway Madness' extravaganza originally set for Friday, Oct. 31, the popular "Runway Madness Online Auction" has already opened its doors for participants with the annual online auction of valuable racing items and 'one-off' products.

The auction website, featuring a variety of racing collectables and entertaining specialty gifts, will be found on www.caracharities. org.

The CARA Charities online auction will run from Nov. 23 to Nov. 30, midnight (EST).

This year's "Runway Madness" charity event, an annual benefit dinner and party held prior to the CART race at California Speedway and a primary fundraiser to assist worthwhile causes on a national and international scope, was scheduled for another exciting evening. However, the devastating fires in the Southern California area forced the Nov. 2 King Taco 500 and the CARA Charities' party to be canceled this year.

With the usual large silent auction as part of "Runway Madness," this year's online auction is bigger and better than ever before.

Leading the unique items in this year's online auction will be a 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 street car donated by Cars 4 Causes.

The DeLorean DMC-12 has 28,485 original miles and is powered by a rear-mounted, 130-horsepower Peugeot-Renault-Volvo fuel-injected, 2.8-liter V-6 engine.

The DMC-12 features sleek, clean lines and that sets the car apart from many other collectable automobiles. The body is a high-quality brushed stainless steel (the paint can't chip or fade and it's impervious to rust) and the car is complimented with the wild gull-wing doors and features charcoal gray leather. The DMC-12 has a five-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes and power windows, tinted glass, AM/FM cassette stereo and Goodyear 195/60R14 tires.

There is slight damage to the bumper, steering wheel and driver's seat. For further information on DeLorean DMC-12 and its parts, supplies and upgrades, click on www.usadmc.com.

Some of the other top items in the online auction are a Cosworth V-8 Engine Coffee Table, Romero Brito hand-painted driver's helmet with display case, a glass top coffee table with Champ Car drivers' names etched into it, framed autographed grid passes autographed by the winner of the race, several vacation packages and Newman's Own gift baskets.

2 Other items include many autographed souvenirs from Champ Car drivers and teams. In addition, a strong list of collectables are on the CARA website from the popular Route 66 Rendezvous charity affair at California Speedway in September.

Since its inception in 1981, CARA Charities has raised and donated more $3.5 million to a variety of charitable organizations including children's hospitals, scholarship funds, ministries and research groups and continues to provide assistance to other charitable activities.
