BROOKLYN, Mich. (August 14, 2010) - Foundation President and driver of the #12 Penske Dodge and #22 Discount Tire Dodge Brad Keselowski will host guests from the Wounded Warrior Project this weekend at Michigan International Speedway as a launch to his new foundation that will focus its efforts on helping those from Michigan first.
Brad Keselowski's Checkered Flag Foundation (CFF), incorporated in late July, will launch its efforts with a day at the races for wounded warriors and their guests at Sunday's Carfax 400. The warriors will board a tour bus in Southeast Michigan near Keselowski's hometown of Rochester Hills, Mich., and arrive at the track for a full day of racing, including a meet and greet with Keselowski prior to the race.
"I'm very excited about the incorporation of the Checkered Flag Foundation and our mission to help individuals, families and other non-profit organizations that support folks who are going through a rough time," said Keselowski, who added the MIS event will be the first of many CFF efforts aimed at providing a positive experience to those in need.
"We support those from Michigan first, as well as others in need of assistance ranging from basic needs, like lack of food, safe shelter and medical issues, so I'm thrilled to get to spend time with wounded warriors from my home state Sunday," he continued. "It's the least we can do for these brave men and women who have given more than expected for our nation."
"It is inspiring to see someone in Brad's position dedicate his efforts to support this generation of wounded warriors," said Kevin Hull, Midwest officer for the Wounded Warrior Project. "WWP offers experiential opportunities for groups of warriors and their families to share experiences, like this incredible day at MIS with the Checkered Flag Foundation, engage in adaptive sports challenges like Soldier Ride, our national segmented cycling tour, and receive personalized counseling on issues such as disability benefits, job training, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We're so appreciative of this chance to welcome our Michigan warriors to NASCAR's stop at MIS for the CARFAX 400."
