Best Buy Squad Scores Third in Kings Cup After AJ Rallies Late
Over $100,000 raised for pva.org

Charlotte, NC 26 May, 2010- After qualifying on the pole, AJ Allmendinger was able to rally his Best Buy kart racing squad late in the race to score a third place finish in the Kings Cup on Tuesday evening. AJ, who shared the driving duties with a select squad off Best Buy employees who had pre-qualified to share the kart with the NASCAR star, moved from ninth late in the going all the way to third at the checkered flag.

But that was far from the biggest success of the night, as over $100,000 was raised for PVA.org (you can still help out yourself, just go to the site and pledge!). Several of AJ's fellow NASCAR pilots including Paul Menard, Casey Kahne, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano and Brian Keselowski were part of the karting race, which was the second annual running of the event.

"That was a blast!" said AJ, who has some experience sharing the driving from his multiple race starts in the ROLEX Sports Car Series driving for Michael Shank Racing. "It was great to get the pole and I had so much fun coming through the field at the end. I love being on any kart that I can get on and this was such a great cause. It was cool that we had such a strong team of Best Buy drivers and this was another great event to raise money for the King. I'm proud to be involved with anything that Mr. Petty does, and this was about as much fun as you could have at a charity event!"

The kart race was another line on a very busy race week schedule for Allmendinger:

Wednesday: Best Buy Concord Grand Re-Opening 6-8 PM
(AJ Signing autographs, and probably sneaking off to play Guitar Hero at some point)

Thursday Richard Petty Motorsports Fan Day 10:30 AM-12:30 PM
(Partner reception, fan autograph session)

Friday ActiveWater Appearance at Charlotte International Airport 10:00-11:00 AM

AJ will be on hand at the HMS Host NASCAR Store to sign autographs as sponsor ActiveWater celebrates the kick off of HMS Host carrying ActiveWater in stores nationwide.

AJ will be back in action with the No. 43 Ford Fusion this weekend starting with Thursday's practice at CMS for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600, set for broadcast on Fox starting at 5:45 PM.
