CARA Charities Starting Engines for 2009 Fashion Show; Everyone's Pulling Together for the 28th Annual CARA Fashion Show in May

Indianapolis - April 17, 2009 - CARA Charities is pleased to announce that plans are well underway for the 28th annual production of the Fashion Show and Luncheon on Thursday, May 21, 2009. Hosted by popular broadcaster Bob Jenkins, the event will feature past and present Indy 500 drivers, media personalities, local and national celebrities as well as community leaders. Known as one of the most anticipated social events during the month of May in Indianapolis, the affair promises to maintain its rich tradition of high-energy entertainment, quality fashion, and community collaboration, but this year patrons can expect some new twists.

The Indiana Roof Ballroom in Downtown Indianapolis will provide the setting. The theme, "Everyone Pull Together" represents the collaborative spirit of the organization, its partners and participants. Proceeds will benefit CARA's award-winning Buckle Up Baby child-safety program, Riley Children's Foundation, the Cody Unser First Step Foundation as well as the Lyn St. James Foundation. CARA is proud to welcome Honorary Community Co-Chairs Charlotte Lucas and Anne Ryder.

While CARA would like to keep many of the surprises under wraps until the big day, here are a few hints. The event will showcase the incredible talents of Indiana-based, upscale designer Berny Martin of Catou Couture as well as his entourage of professional models displaying the latest in runway fashions. Tradition will be maintained with the Secret Ingredient and Piper Children's Boutique providing fashions as well. "You've not been to the CARA Fashion Show until you've been to this year's event," says Cathie Lyon, executive director of CARA Charities. "The new energy combined with the blood, sweat, and tears of a great planning committee will transform this event for years to come."

To fire up fans for the big day, CARA has partnered for the second year with DL Images, Guthrie/Meyer Racing, former 500 driver Lyn St James, and "Riley kid" Joy Araujo to produce the CARA Fashion Show/Buckle Up Baby Public Service Announcement (copies delivered to networks on April 9).

Buckle Up Baby is an award-winning CARA program. It was first established in 1993, and represents a partnership between the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust, CARA Charities, and local hospitals in markets hosting open-wheel racing events. Since the program began, more than $800,000 has been donated to hospitals in open wheel venues to fund the purchase of infant car seats and special needs safety seats for needy families. This year, with the support of T2 Systems, donations have already been made in the Indianapolis area. Funds derived from the 2009 Fashion Show will allow even greater assistance to be provided.
