Yamaha Motor Australia team riders Casey McCoy and Greg Slattery have both finished the Australian Safari inside the top ten.

McCoy was also named "International Rider of the Meet' after finishing higher up the placing than any other international rider.

"I had a great final day," McCoy said. "I finished sixth overall which was quite good considering everything that happened to me over the eight days of competition.

"That was definitely one of the toughest Safari's I have contested, the course really threw up some tough obstacles.

"I would love to come back and have another go at it next year on the Yamaha WR450 2-Trac machine.

"The 2-Trac is amazing and I think I could have finished in the top three if I hadn't fallen down the ravine, and damaged my wheel the way I did," McCoy said.

South Australian Greg Slattery had an amazing final day of competition coming from twelfth to break into the top ten.

Slattery had his work cut out for him throughout the eight days of the Safari after stopping three times to go to the aid of his team mates.

"It was certainly a challenging ride," Slattery said.

"I had a job to do within the team and that was to support the other guys if they needed it.

"I am really happy with my overall result and I will definitely be putting my hand up to go again next year," Slattery added

Honda rider Jamie Cunningham won the moto section of the Australian Safari ahead of KTM riders Adrian Channing and David Schwarz.
