Rallye dos Sertoes 2008 @Volkswagen clinches one-two win with Giniel de Villiers and Mark Miller in Brazil

Commanding one-two win for Volkswagen: At the Rallye dos Sertoes the factory duos Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) as well as Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA) captured places one and two overall. For the Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 with its 280-hp TDI diesel engine, this marked the ninth overall victory at 23 events since 2004. At the demanding and varied rally, all of the ten possible stage wins went to the "Dakar" prototype from Wolfsburg. For Volkswagen, the Rallye dos Sertoes meant another step in the preparations for the 2009 Dakar Rally, which will lead from Argentina to Chile from 03 to 18 January.

Three Volkswagen drivers on the podium - Mortara still running in front

Podium places and overall lead for the Volkswagen drivers: With Jean Karl Vernay (F), Edoardo Mortara (I) and Robert Wickens (CDN), as many as three junior drivers from the Volkswagen Signature team were on the podium at races seven and eight of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the Norisring. Vernay clinched positions three and four, Mortara, with fourth- and third-place finishes, defended his lead in the standings, while Wickens, as the runner-up on Sunday, crowned the successful weekend. With a score of 40 points, Mortara is 15 points ahead of his immediate rival Nico Hulkenberg.

ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup
Second win of the season for Shane Williams

The South African Shane Williams won the sixth race of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup at the Norisring ahead of Alexander Rambow from Zehdenick and the Dane Thor Qualmann. Maximilian Sandritter (Raubling) clinched fourth place in a race that was marked by numerous duels, making him the best contender in the rookie classification. Williams heads the leaderboard with 224 points, followed by Rambow (210 points) and the Dane Thor Qualmann (176).

Jamie Perry and Paul Taylor win at Thruxton

In the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Jamie Perry secured his second exploit of the season with a clear start-finish victory in the Volkswagen Racing Cup at Thruxton. In the second race, Paul Taylor in his Volkswagen Golf R32 prevailed against Perry and Joe Fulbrook only in the last turn. Nevertheless, Fulbrook defended his lead in the standings.

Osterby wins at Padborg

The name of the winner of the third round of the Volkswagen Polo Cup Denmark is Christoffer Osterby. The 34-year-old local hero drove to the front after starting from position three on the grid and relegated Dennis Elgaard, who - after an early spin - recovered to second place again from eleventh. Thomas Faraas came third. Guest entrant Jens Enemark, who had surprisingly clinched the pole position, was struck by misfortune. Due to a jump start and the subsequent penalty, he only saw the finish line in third place.

Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship (JTCC)
Kristoffersson claims two victories in the Volkswagen Golf

At the fifth race weekend of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship at the Sturup Raceway, the 19-year-old Swede Johan Kristoffersson in his Volkswagen Golf FSI won both races. His brand colleague and three-time season winner Alexander Graff occupied third place in the second race and thus defended his lead in the standings.

Rene Rast extends Cup lead with second-place finish

At the fifth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Norisring, Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast extended his advantage in the drivers' standings to ten points over Chris Mamerow and 14 over Nicolas Armindo. The 21-year-old from Steyerberg, champion of the 2005 ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, had started from position two and defended this place through to the finish. In the end, he was lacking merely 0.795 seconds to clinching his second victory this year.

SEAT Leon Supercopa
First win of the season and second place for Jimmy Johansson

At the fourth race weekend of the SEAT Leon Supercopa, Volkswagen Junior Jimmy Johansson celebrated his first win of the season. The Swede, who was 2006 champion of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup, had started the first race at the Norisring from fourth place and recovered to the top position over the 29-lap race. In the second race the Swede saw the chequered flag as the runner-up and thus took second place overall as well. With 98 points, Johansson ranks 38 points behind the leader of the standings, Niki Thiim.
