Transsyberia Rally, leg 10: Fast Drive but One Hour Penalty

The 282 kilometre special stage during Monday's 10th leg brought mixed fortunes for us. We were really very fast. But unfortunately we missed a drive through control and for that received a one hour penalty. So instead of setting a best time we were classified eleventh on stage. That's really annoying because we wanted to catch up with the top and not lose time again. Apart from that, two flat tyres and some problems with the rear shocks didn't really help. Without these hickups we could have easily been 20 minutes faster. Still, the stage was great and challenging, very fast and fun to drive. It's a great feeling when the Cayenne gets going with its 385 hp. And after all, we are still third overall.

That's easy going - but over wide stretches the road disappeared under a veritable river.

The eleventh leg on Tuesday will lead us from Davi to Altay. Of the 358 kilometres a nice chunk of 208 ks is driven as a special stage. The Transsyberia Rally took off on 11 July from the Red Square in Moscow and will finish on July 25 in Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia.
