THE GREAT DAY UNDER THE PYRAMIDS SHADOW
EL CAIRO -- Here we are: the 12th edition of Pharaons International Cross Country Rally is officially open today with a day dedicated to the sporty and technical checks, made to the Intercontinental Pyramids of Giza and ended tonight at 7 pm.
74 are the motorbikes and quads verified, with a large presence of 4 wheels means ,precisely 13, a record for the Pharaons.
Trough the cars 19 crews are verified, while the Pharaons Classic, the new strategy and ability formula created by JVD International, collected exactly 31 entries. Furthers 10 crews will be keep busy with the Raid.
Favourite on the two wheels is the French, but resident in Andorra, Cyril Despres, actual leader of the worldwide placing, that here in Egypt is looking for the necessary points to insure the sphere title. Francisco "Chaleco" Lopez from Chile, engaged for the occasion by the Aprilia Team is without any doubt his most dangerous adversary, but we mustn't forget the italians Luca Manca, Paolo Ceci, Alex Zanotti and Oscar Polli, the polish Jaceck Czachor and Jakub Przygonski, the portuguese Helder Rodriguz and the young, but really speed french Olivier Pain.
Among the women in the race, Silvia Giannetti, from Tuscany, the driver/journalist Camelia Liparoti on her trusted quad KTM and the french Marie Odile De Dreuille, also on a quad..
Among the cars, absent the winner of the last two editions Christian Lavieille, the favours of the forecast goes to Jerome Pelichet/Eugene Decr0x00e9 (Bowler Wildcat), on the dais during the last two editions. Adversaries in the Pharaons and also in the Wild Cat QT Service Trophy, there will be the french Visy/Bourguin and the italians Roberto and Nicola Tonetti, father and son. Also the twins Aldo and Dario De Lorenzo, on a Isuzu D-Max, prepared by the "magician" Guido Toni, will search for the result in the Egyptian Land, trying to win the thick local team, with eleven crews on the starting signal.
Tomorrow at 8.00 am, from the starting signal standed in the plain of the Pyramid of Giza, will officially leave the 12th Pharaons Rally. The first lap, as usually, will bring the caravan in Baharija, the oasi of the 3000 mummies: a special trial of 329 Km that will make enter straight away to the quick of the race.
