The great moment is here: the Pharaons International Cross Country Rally 2005 will be the fifth competition of the FIA World Cup.

Certain favorable circumstances place the 2005 edition in the most interesting part of the calendar both for the World Cup as well as for the Dakar: the pilots racing for the F.I.A. While teams challenging for Dakar will find 2800 km of wide-ranging grounds together with the vehicles back home in October thus having proper time to work out the "Pharaons" results.

The major four-wheeled teams are expected to participate, with the wish they will appreciate the hardships together with the charm of the race that Jacky Ickx is due to map by next March 1st.

The off-road motorbikes world is undergoing a deep change phase, in view of problems that recent tragedies have focused: the matching troubles between road book and GPS, along with an exceeding power of vehicles, all factors which have led top pilots to keep average speed along the selective sectors quite contrary to acceptable security standards.

JVD is on the frontline of this evolution. The organizers of the World Championship races, to which JVD belongs since year 2000, met in Paris on January 29th with the F.I.M. Cross-Country Rally executives in order to actively confront the safety measures problem.

The CER Commission (Enduro - Rally Commission) most probably will consider few critical preventive measures on the Rules, such as the change in GPS use and the limit of requested self-sufficiency in order to reduce the tank capacity and therefore the bike weight.

Together with the Sentinel warning system on coming vehicles, JVD will definitely adopt also other advanced technology tools intended to improve safety at the Pharaons International Cross Country Rally.
