EURO: Qatar team to run Italian Baja

Qatari Sheikh Hamad Bin Eid Al-Thani in participation for the 13th Italian Baja, the first round of FIA Cross Country European Cup for Baja.

Sheikh Hamad previously participated in Qatar Baja last year with the Australian (Lebanese native) co-driver George Sarayan where he ended at 5th place and first in T2 category, and lead his category in Saudi Arabia's Baja Ha'el before mechanical trouble hits his car on the second leg, forced him into retirement.

With the support of Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) Sheikh Hamad Bin Eid will go with his T2 Nissan Pathfindar with Australian co-driver George Sarayan after successful partnership, achieves the T2 leading category in 2005 Qatar Baja.

This is the first participation for Sheikh Hamad in Europe, while he holds to a his credit 1993 Middle East Rally with Mitsubishi Galant VR4 (Group N) and won the Jordan International Rally toward to the regional championship, that was the first time that driver won the title with group N spec vehicle.

He also won Qatar Rally Championship in 1997 and 2005 (last one for Off road category with Bahraini Ibrahim Bousmit on Nissan Patrol GR), previously won the T1 category in Middle East rally challenge in 1990 after win in all four rounds in UAE, Qatar, Oman & Jordan.

He also participated in other international rallies in this region.

It is expected that Sheikh Hamad will participate in all FIA Cross Country European Cup for Bajas round this year, he will go in July for Baja Aragon in Spain (20th to 23rd of July) and Baja Anta Da Serra - Portalegre in Portugal (12th to 15th of October) plus UAE Rally next novemeber.
