Tony D'Alberto was third fastest after today's practice sessions for Round 6 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Bathurst today.

The 21 year-old Victorian was 'on the money' in both sessions today, trading fastest laps throughout, only to be beaten in the closing stages when competitors fitted new tyres.

"I am stoked with the way the car is going," Tony said.

"We didn't use any new tyres today which means we still have a bit of improvement to look forward to tomorrow.

"The package was really strong today and it will only get better as the meeting unfolds."

Although Tony is hoping to accrue as many points as he can this weekend he is also desperate to improve on three third places at Bathurst over the past three years.

"I want to win this weekend but even to finish second would be great," he said.

Tony's team-mate in the 1000km race, Steve Owen, was 12th fastest after today's practice session.

Tony had limited laps before pitting for repairs to the power steering, but was set the task of familiarizing himself to the Autobarn Commodore.

"The Autobarn car has a different feel to my car so it will take a little bit to get used to," Tony said.

"By Sunday I will be right up to speed and ready to give it a good shot."

Fujitsu Series qualifying and Race 1 will be held tomorrow along with V8 Supercar 1000 practice and qualifying.
