ROLLINSON GETS LAST MINUTE FUJITSU V8 SUPERCAR SERIES CALLUP

Young Auckland racing driver Gene Rollinson will make his Australian debut in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar series at Victoria's Winton Motor Raceway this weekend after a last-minute callup to drive the Prodigy team's second BA Falcon.

It will be an all-new experience for the 22-year-old five-time New Zealand kart champion and one he is going into with his eyes open.

"The first time I've even sat in a V8 Sueprcar was yesterday when we did a seat and pedal box fitting, but the team was keen and as far as I am concerned you don't say no when something like this turns up."

Since graduating from karts to cars Rollinson has won the new Zealand Formula Challenge series, competed with success in Formula Malaysia (a single seater class there) and the Parker ENZED NZV8s championship, where this season he made an immediate impressive in the Pak 'n Save Pukekohe-backed Holden Commodore, leading the final race at the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport round at the Taupo track early on before eventually being bumped back to seventh place.

This weekend he will be one of three New Zealand drivers competing at the third round of the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar series, joining Kayne Scott and Chris Pither.
