TESTING: Winton - Monday 21 August 2006

Mark and the team went to Victoria 's Winton Raceway (the team test track) for testing on Monday, and he was happy with the results considering the limited tyres available for the day.

In V8 Supercar racing each driver is allocated two sets of tyres per race meeting. These tyres are also used for testing as there is no allocation of tyres specifically for testing purposes. This means that teams are always testing on used tyres and sometimes, if tyres have been damaged during the race meeting there is an extremely limited choice for testing.

This was the case for Mark on Monday. After being turned around and receiving panel damage in the final race at Oran Park , where three tyres were damaged, Mark was left with limited tyres to test on.

"I did 60-70 laps on the tyres we had," Mark said.

"It was the most consistent that I have been on used tyres so far."

The team made a number of changes to the car on the day after feedback from Mark which improved the performance.

"I am definitely more comfortable with the car now that I have two race meetings under my belt.

"My car feedback and receptiveness to set-up changes is really starting to help myself and the engineers get the most from the car," he said.

This was Mark's final test before heading to South Australia's Mallala Raceway for Round 5 of the 2006 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.
