MCNALLY MARCHES FORWARD AT ORAN PARK

Mark McNally gained ten places as he marched forward in today's opening race of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at Oran Park today.

After starting 22nd on the grid, further down that he would have liked, Mark drove an intelligent race to finish a credible 12th at the finish.

Interrupted only by a safety car mid-race, Mark kept at it, putting pressure on those in front as he picked them off one by one.

"The race was good for us because we scored some points and passed a lot of cars," Mark said.

"Although we are still searching for a good set-up that will give the type of feel and performance that we had in Friday's second session."

The second practice session yesterday, which Mark was 7th fastest, saw the car perfectly balanced for Mark's driving and he was able to turn some good speed, although it was a handful.

"The track has changed," Mark said.

"And we have a bit of work to do to find the balance again for tomorrow's racing."

Although Mark is happy with his performance today he is well aware of how hard it will be to forge his way into the top ten.

"It gets harder from here," Mark said.

"Not only do we need to get the car right but the competition in the top ten is a lot tougher."

Tomorrow's action includes the reverse-top-ten race and the final race in the afternoon.
