McNALLY SETTLES IN AT BATHURST

After a frustrating opening practice session Mark McNally has settled in to complete a solid run in the second session at Bathurst today for Round 6 of the Fujitsu V8 Series.

"I had a really good run in the second session," Mark said.

"I was able to complete all the laps and get comfortable with the car.

"To do a 2:13 lap was really good, faster than I have been around here before.

Mark was 14th fastest for most of the session until dropping to 19th after other teams used their new tyres to improve their times.

"We can now keep working on improving the car as I have the confidence to push harder.

"We are aiming for about 12th in qualifying tomorrow but anywhere in the top 15 would be a good result."

"The hardest part of the meeting was just getting here with limited preparation time but the boys did a great job and now we can focus on improving on the track."

The opening session had the team chasing set-up and a vibration issue with the car which gave Mark limited time on the track.

"I spent a lot of time in the pits which was not what I needed, but we sorted it out for the second session to the credit of the team."

Tomorrow's qualifying session will see the team push the set-up stiffer in an attempt to find more speed on a stickier track.

"I will keep pushing forward one step at a time," Mark said.

Tomorrow's events include qualifying in the morning and Race 1 in the afternoon.
