MCNALLY HITS THE TRACK AT BATHURST

Mark McNally was 20th fastest in today's practice at Mt Panorama for Round 6 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.

After changing cars prior to this meeting, Mark was happy to get some laps under his belt today, albeit not as many as he would have liked after being hampered in the second session by fuel pressure problems.

With the aim of maximising his laps at the iconic circuit this weekend, 17th fastest in the first session was a good start for the West Australian as he re-acquainted himself with the track while giving his West Coast Racing Commodore a final shake-down.

The second session started well until his crew alerted him to a fuel pressure problem early in the session which took a number of laps to identify. After sending him back out onto the circuit the problem remained, forcing Mark back to pit lane before a pressure regulator was found to be the cause.

With little time left Mark put in a flying 2:14.29 lap before pitting for a final attempt on green tyres. Unfortunately the opportunity disappeared when the session was red-flagged leaving Mark outside of the top 50% for tomorrow's qualifying without a lap on the new tyres.

"Considering that I didn't get a go on green tyres I am happy with where I am at but it would have been nice to be in the top 50%," Mark said.

"We are still working on the set-up and also on my driving in parts of the track where we know we can make some gains, so it is important to get as many laps as possible.

"If I can get some extra speed in just a few places then the flow-on speed will make a big difference to my times.

"It is good to be able to share data with the BJR main series cars as I can see exactly where I can improve."

With qualifying and Race 1 tomorrow Mark is hoping to push up the field for a solid run into the final race on Saturday.

"It is really important for me to get plenty of consistent laps here this weekend and maximise my experience of this circuit," Mark said.
