Wall Racing Aiming For Success
Double Australian GT Champion David Wall and his Wall Racing Team are aiming for a podium finish in the 2011 Armor All Bathurst 12-hour.
Joining David in his #38 Wilson Security Porsche GT3 Cup S will be his good friend Barton Mawer. Barton is stepping in to replace David's father Des who broke his arm in an accident forcing him to miss the race.
David and Barton have raced together successfully in endurance races previously including the 2008 and 2009 Malaysian Merdeka Millennium Endurance 12 hour races in Sepang. The pair scored an outstanding podium finish there in 2008.
Barton has raced in previous endurance races at the mountain and also competed in the 2008 Australian Porsche Carrera Cup.
They will be joined by 2006 Australian GT Champion Greg Crick adding to the experience and success of the team.
"We are going into this weekend with one aim - to win the race," said David.
"It is not going to be easy, especially with the Audi Team Joest and some of Australia's top drivers competing. I raced against Team Joest last year in Malaysia so I have seen how professional they are. I am keen to race against them again.
"We tested our Wilson Security Porsche at Wakefield Park earlier this week and it felt good. I think we have done everything we can do to prepare and we should have strong package for the race.
"We have always done well at this track so I am hoping we can have a strong finish."
The family run Wall Racing team will run two other cars in the 12-hour, the #39 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup and the #43 Mitsubishi EVO IX GSR, making it a very busy weekend for the team.
Cheering the team on at the track will be a contingent of 70 people, with everyone from the car owners, mechanics, sponsors and family heading to the track and David is hoping to reward their support.
Supporting David and the team at the Armor All Bathurst 12-hour will be loyal sponsors Wilson Security, Shannons and Mount Aqua, with Paynter Dixon also sponsoring the team.
