Father and son duo, David and Des Wall have secured a solid top ten qualifying position and will start in 9th place for tomorrow's Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro.

In a day interrupted by heavy rain, the team at Alan East Motorsport are happy with the result and are looking forward to the race.

"We went quicker than we have ever gone during today's qualifying session and I don't think there is much more we could have got out of our car," said David after the session.

"The session was initially delayed after heavy rain turned parts of the track into a swimming pool. When qualifying eventually got underway they were forced to combine the top 50 per cent and bottom 50 per cent qualifying session which meant that the track was very busy. There is a big difference between the pace of the front running cars and those in the lower classes so we came up to traffic very quickly over the mountain.

"We are happy with how the car ran qualifying in pretty much the same set up as we will start the race so there is not much more we can do other than go home and get a decent night's sleep, it is going to be a long day tomorrow.

"We know that we do not have the newest of fastest car out there, but we are hoping that our consistency and reliability we see us finish well. A little bit of rain will help us as well so we are hoping the weather will play into our hands during the race."

Depending on the weather and safety car interventions David will start the race with a double stint to set the team up well for the race.

David and Des will again be joined by Trevor Symonds and they will compete in the same Mitsubishi Evo IX GSR that they raced to 4th outright last year. In 2008 the team started on pole position and finished 5th outright and 3rd in class.

This year the team will be running number 38 on their Evo IX, the same number David ran in last year's Australian GT Championship and Des ran in the Kerrick Sports Sedans.

David's most recent outing at Bathurst saw him complete double duties in the Australian GT Championship and with the Wilson Security Racing V8 Supercar team. David dominated the GT round, qualifying 2nd and winning both races.
