Strong Support Categories for Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour
Five support categories for the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro have all boasted high Entries for this year's Event. Historic Touring Cars Group N, HQ Holden's, Improved Production, Porsche GT3 Challenge and Saloon Cars will share the support bill at Mt Panorama next weekend.
Historic Touring Cars Group N will kick off the weekend on Friday, 12th February and along with the other four categories will supply race fans with plenty of variety with the annual 12 Hour Enduro headlining Sunday's activities.
A total of 223 cars will feature on the track including 26 for Historic Touring Cars Group N, 60 HQ Holdens, 48 Improved Production, 37 Porsche GT3's and 52 Saloon Cars.
Dale Youd, Category Manager for HQ Holden's, who have been at the Event every year since its inception is particularly pleased with his line-up and believes it will be a great weekend.
"The Guys love it. It's the pinnacle of their year. It will be a great weekend because it's a low key Event for us, which makes the weekend a lot more laid back," said Youd.
Category Manager of first timers Historic Touring Cars Group N, Warren Bossie will not only be looking after the category but will be competing in the 12 Hour Endurance Race on the Sunday with Glen Featherstone and Mark Tutton in a Subaru Impreza WRX.
Tutton will be doing double duty in Improved Production along with Jim Pollicina, Leanne Tander, Keane Booker and Ray Hislop. Hislop will be one to watch out for in this category holding the 2009 lap record in his Ford Falcon BF in a time of 2:28.57.
Shawn Jamieson will return to Mt Panorama ready to regain his Saloon Cars title and will have West Aussie Clint Harvey hot on his heels who came second at the same Event in 2009.
2009 Porsche GT3 Challenge champion Matt Kingsley will make a return to the field in search for Bathurst glory. The Gold Coasters comeback has been very impressive following a long recovery from a serious crash at the Clipsal 500 in 2008. He will face some tough opposition for Round One of the Porsche GT3 series.
The Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro is in its 4th year, with a grid of 46 cars entered. The race features production cars in a class structure representative of the mass road-going market. BMW, Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden, Nissan and Subaru will compete for outright honors.
Prostate Cancer is the official charity of the Event and the race will be televised in a 3 hour special on the SEVEN Network, through Fox Sports, New Zealand and other International Markets.
For the first time in the Events history, the Bathurst 12 Hour race will be streamed live throught the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour website www.bathurst12hour.com.au.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek www.ticketek.com.au or 13 2849 or at the gate.
