At the close of hour eight the top outright contenders were: Klark Quinn (#29), Graham Alexander (#87), Martin Notaras (#43), Garry Holt (#20).

At the close of hour eight the class leaders were:

Class C -- Luke Searle (#3)
Class D -- Brian Walden (#24)

Klark Quinn (#29) has used hour eight to establish his lead, extending his gap on second to a race first 1.17s over second-placed Graham Alexander (#87).

At the seven hour 30 minute mark Quinn was leading then second-placed Paul Morris (#20) by 18 seconds, while also dicing with the #43 entry driven by David Wall, who was fighting furiously to keep himself on the lead-lap.

At the seven hour 40 minute mark Quinn pulled in for fuel, allowing Morris to resume the lead 27 seconds ahead of the now second-placed Rod Salmon (#87).

Morris pitted at the seven hour 50 minute mark for tyres, fuel and a driver change, with car-owner Garry Holt taking the wheel for the first time today. Car #87 pitted as well, not for tyres but fuel and a driver change with Graham Alexander hopping on board.

With Quinn able to pick up the two spots while Morris and Salmon headed to the pits, Alexander slotted back on-track after the stop in second position behind the #29 entry, although he would later sacrifice his second-placing to a charging Holt.

However it wouldn't last for long for the #20 entry with Holt spinning into the sand trap right on the end of the seventh hour on the exit of The Chase, rejoining in fourth position.

Note: The issue Steve Owen encountered in the past hour has been confirmed as an electrical problem which caused his BMW335i to shut down heading into The Cutting.
